Such a pleasure to be a guest on Ceri’s wonderful blog. I loved sharing my discovery of James Stanier Clarke and the inspiration his unnamed painting was for my new novel, Jane Austen’s Ghost. Clarke actually knew Jane Austen and in 1815 he hosted her at the Prince Regent’s London palace. Clarke showed Jane Austen the Carlton House library and the two of them exchanged a number of letters.
